I've not noticed this before, and I can't understand the behaviour..
If I look at a RAW file from a Canon R5 MkII while it's still on the card, Photomechanical reads the {frame} number just fine, even before it's created an XMP sidecar file.. so the frame number is definitely in the RAW file.
If I ingest it, Photomechanic creates the sidecar file, and the frame number is also written to the XMP file.
But - if I then delete the XMP sidecar file and I try to REINGEST (even if the last 4 digits of the filename are the frame number), the frame number is missing when I view the info again in Photomechanic.
I've tried it with an old image from a Canon 5DS, and the {frame} number remains in the original RAW file when I go to view it without the sidecar file, but once Photomechanic touches an R5MkII RAW file it seems to lose the {frame} data from the CR3.
It seems that the image number might not be stored in the R5MkII's original RAW file like it is with the 5DS so on ingest is processed by PM then saved into the XMP file.. re-ingesting (from a selection) into a different folder then retains the {frame} number as it's reading it from the XMP file.. but if the XMP file doesn't exist, then it thinks the {frame} number is blank, and doesn't even bother to look at the last 4 digits of the filename.
What's the best workaround, or could this be fixed?
