Entering GPS LAT/LON data using PM
« on: October 23, 2007, 01:56:45 AM »
Hello Kirk

I do use a small GPS unit to enter LAT/LON data into my Nikon nef files.
Normally I use the GPS unit on specific jobs (photography from airplanes).
On other occasions I do not use the GPS unit, but find afterwards that GPS LAT/LON data would be useful.
So my question: is it (or would it be) possible to enter this data via PM?
If it can already be done: how to do it? Otherwise, I like to add it to the future request list.

Regards -Jan-

Kirk,

I see that it is already on the wish list.
Just add my vote.
Manual editing is a possibility, but importing the complete GPS data from a (text) file might be more convenient.

Another thing which would be useful is the ability to copy GPS data from one image to another. If I take a number of images indoors where the GPS doesn't get a signal, it would be neat to be able to take one image outside the building and copy the data from that.

By the way, where is that wish list? I'd like to check what's already on it.

I guess the "wish list" is a list solely used by Kirk for consideration.
If you bring up a suggestion that he thinks is doable and worthwhile,
he will indicate that he puts the item on his wish list.
No guarantee if and when our wishes come true.  ;D

I was scrolling through previous suggested items and the "GPS import" was mentioned here,
(including reference by Kirk to his "wish list"):

Using a GPS logger I started to work with the freeware program www.geosetter.de to feed the GPS log into the raw, tif and jpg images.
Works great, the programmer Friedemann Schmidt is still at work to add new features.
