cr2 files taking a long time to export to HTML
« on: June 07, 2006, 10:27:51 PM »
I haven't made many HTML galleries using files from my Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II, but now that I am, it is taking forever to export. Is this something to do with the cr2 format. I am used to PM being super fast when it comes to HTML exports. One of the best features, in my opinion.

What version of Photo Mechanic, and what OS?

(Please EVERYONE post this information when asking about a problem, thanks.)

Kirk,

Sorry about that - I know better. It's PM 4.4.3. I just finished exporting 500 images to an HTML gallery, which took about 30 minutes. Now I notice that the full-size images, which I set to 640 pixels are quite a bit smaller than that. The thumbnails seem okay, though. I timed the export of each image and it took 5-6 seconds per image to export. A lot slower than I'm used to with my EOS 1Ds RAW tif files.

And what is your OS?  Mac OS X or Windows XP/2000?

It is rendering your CR2s using Apple's ImageIO.  The final version of PM 4.4.3.1 will have a popup menu that will allow you to choose to render the RAW file or just use the embedded preview for speed.  This popup will appear in the HTML Exporter, Send Photos via email, and in the Print dialog.
