i phone is opening PM

Running PM 4.6.4 on Macbook pro os 10.6.4
As soon as I plug my iphone in PM opens.  Anyway so when my card reader plugs in it opens but not my when my iphone is connected.

Photo Mechanic cannot access the data on your iPhone.  Photo Mechanic only works with devices that mount their contents as a disk drive.  Image Capture is launching PM whenever any device is detected whether or not it gets mounted as a disk drive.  You can configure Image Capture to not launch PM (have it do something else) if you wish.

To add to Kirk's advise to have another application launch when you attach your iPhone, I would suggest using iTunes for that (actually you can specify this behaviour inside iTunes itself when you've got your iPhone attached).

I'm fully aware that PM can't or won't get info from my i phone - and I know that itunes is for the iphone. 

That wasn't the point of my question. 
How can I stop PM from opening when I plug my phone in and can it be set up so that it opens with my card reader and not with my phone.

clphoto I believe Kirk did answer your question.

Open Image Capture while your iPhone is connected. Select it from the Devices list and tell it what to open when connecting it. I'm attaching a screen shot that might help. When configured, plugging in my iPhone no longer opens Photo Mechanic, but plugging in an SD card does.
