Wrong hotkeys in Slide show under Leopard
« on: June 14, 2008, 02:56:18 PM »
Hi!
I have noticed something strange in slideshow (Cmd-L): pressing "+" (i.e. "=") has no effect, number "1" or "-" tags the image, other digits have no effect. Key "T" toggles tag, but not always! Today I was evaluating more than 200 images, trying to tag my choices with "T" but it went fine only for first 60 images or so.
Running PM (same version) on my G4 PowerBook (Tiger) gives fine results.
PhotoMechanic 4.5.3.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.3, Mac Pro Intel, Spaces switched off.
Help!
Artur

Hi Artur,

Do you have 'Fade transitions' enabled in the Slide Show Settings dialog? If so, does un-checking fade transitions fix the problem?

Jerry

Hi Artur,

I spent more time on this issue and all shortcut keys are working as expected on my OS 10.5.3 machine. Are you running any applications that might modify or automate shortcuts (e.g. QuickKeys)? Are you having trouble with these keys in any other editing applications?

If you wish for someone from our support department to contact you by phone, then please send me a private message with your telephone number and a good time to call.

Kind regards,

Jerry

Hi!
It's strange, because:
1. in normal "browser view" all the keys work as expected
2. on Powerbook G4 under Tiger everything goes fine
3. I have no applications modifying keyboard's behavior
4. I've found out that either "1" or "-" key tags the image and "/" key untags it
Very recently I discovered that Silver Fast software does not run correctly under Polish system, so I have switched my Leopard back to English. But I have never changed anything in my keyboard settings - it's "Polish Pro".
Answering your previous question: switching "Fade slides" on or off does not influence the behavior.
Regards,
Artur

On both your systems, are you using the same keyboard layout?  When you switched your Leopard OS install back to English, did the Slideshow operate correctly for you then?

Hallo!
Both my systems operate the same keyboard layout: "Polish PRO". It's interesting that pressing +/- keys in browse window behaves OK, the problem occurs in Slide Show only. I've just switched back Leopard to Polish language: it does not influence the issue: PM's slideshow works incorrectly in both languages.
Could it be the problem of the newest Apple alu-keyboard I own? Maybe it is somehow over-intelligent?  ;)

Artur

We use the open source SDL to run the slideshow which has a different method of getting keys from the keyboard.  It may be that it is unable to map your keys properly.

Not having your keyboard on my end would make it quite difficult to fix.  I think you stated that your other system worked correctly even though you are using the same keyboard layout, correct?  If so then what is different about your system that doesn't work?

Hi!
Once again: I have 2 Macs: Power Mac 2x3,2GHz (Intel) (with Apple's new alu-keyboard) running Leopard 10.5.3 and PowerBook G4 12" 1,5GHz (PowerPC). Both computers have same keyboard layout - Polish PRO on standard Qwerty (english) keyboard. PowerBook is working fine, Mac Pro does not read slideshow keys properly.
Both Macs are absolutely standard machines - I didn't change keyboards nor installed any 3-rd party software changing keystroke interpretation.
You can mimic my environment simply switching to "Polish PRO" keyboard layout on your Leopard machine - that's probably the only difference between our computers. I think, your keyboard-library may be not compatible with Leopard's non English keyboard layout - I already had problems with SilverFast system running on Polish Leopard - LaserSoft informed me that Apple has changed the method of software localisation comparing to Tiger.
Regards,
Artur

What OS is your PowerBook G4 running?

Artur,

Tiger 10.4.11 English

So it sounds like Leopard has introduced another bug.  I think were over half a dozen now.
