drop down search menu

I need to use PM for on site viewing. Is there any way to create a drop down menu with names that can be selected to search a catalog ? I have found that no two people will spell "smith" the same way. Thanks for your attention. John

Where would this menu appear in the application?

I was thinking that a script with a list of names ( drop down ) the selected name would go to the PM search function. I have either horse name, rider name or owner name. by selecting the three fields of information in the search window. The selected name would be applied to the search.
My option is to have a binder with a list of names that the exhibitor would choose and type into the search field.
Do you have any ideas ? i'll bet that you do. John
