PSD won't be read all of a sudden

I have a number of psd files that have had no issue being read in the past.  For some reason I have a handful of images in a folder that won't be read.  The files aren't corrupt as they open in PS with no issues.  They are 8 bit, no layers...

Yes, no problem in any other app.  Light Room works, CS3 works.  I only get a gray 'file' that has the PM logo image and it says PSD....

Court's issue was an outdated version of QuickTime.  Updating to the latest version solved his problem.
