When I have several dates on a card can the photos be put into different folders that are named by the capture date using ingest?
Yes. What do you want your folders to be named?
For instance you can use the {datesort} variable which will expand to the following:
YYYYMMDD
You just need to set the 'Copy Photos:' popup menu to 'into folder with name' and then enter:
{datesort}
into the 'Folder Name:' text field. Then when you ingest, the capture date of each file will determine what folder it will be placed into.
