Mac Pro faster with IPTC writing?

Is a Mac Pro much faster than an imac core Duo 2,0Ghz when applying Iptc-pads?Any ideas?

I have no experience in this but would assume speed of applying IPTC fields is more likely up to the HDD writing speeds rather the CPU speed.
