PM & Nuance's Dragon Naturally Speaking (DNS)?
« on: February 09, 2009, 06:08:17 AM »
Hello.  I'm using the latest version of Photo Mechanic along with David Rieck's Controlled Vocabulary on a Windows XP machine.  I have 60K+ images I have been slowly working on transfering handwritten notes to metadata using the IPTC stationary pad.

Recently, on the David's Controlled Vocabulary Yahoo list, someone mentioned Nuance's Dragon Naturally Speaking. http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/

I am interested in using DNS with PM to speed my metadata application.

Does anyone here have any experience using DNS with PM and David's CV?  http://www.controlledvocabulary.com/forum.html

I have an email into the Sales folks at Nuance, so I will report anything I find out back here.

Thanks,
Scott

We have never tried it out ourselves (the developers of Photo Mechanic.)  Do they have a demo?  I don't know what technologies they use to enter the text you speak, but if they do it right, you should see text enter right into various dialogs in Photo Mechanic.  We don't use any custom text fields: they're all standard Windows controls so if they go through the proper channels, it should work.

HTH,
