Viewing NEF images in higher resolutions?
« on: August 08, 2006, 09:28:53 AM »
Hi,

two really quick questions:
1. Once an image is edited in Capture 4.x, it seems its only posible to view the images at lower res (ie via preview window). Do i need to enable high res preview option in capture to fix that?
2. Is there a way to view nef images in 1:1 as the zoom seems to refer to the preview image or something lower res?

cheers,
max

In general, Photo Mechanic does not render RAW images (the exception is the Mac version when running 10.4.6 or higher which can render RAW files).  So what Photo Mechanic does is use the JPEG previews that are embedded inside the NEF file.  When you edit a NEF in Capture it generates a smaller preview.  If you can instruct it to generate larger previeves, then do so.  Otherwise, there is a tool from Nikon called NPrevCreator3 that can batch create higher resolution previews.

We can only show NEFs in 1:1 if the preview is full size.
