I have noticed that when the ingest dialog box comes up, it's really slow due to two new network discs showing up (that didn't exist in Leopard): home (empty) and net (empty). If I click on them and try to unmount them, I get "disc in use" errors. I have attached a screengrab of the Ingestion dialog box.

I don't see those on my Snow Leopard system.  Where do they come from?

If you want PM to ignore those volumes and you have access to create files/folders on them, you can add a folder at the root called PMIngestIgnore and Ingest will skip that volume.

If you launch the System Profiler, you can see them under Network -> Volumes. See attached.

Hi,

maybe PM and other programs do not interpretate Snow Leopards flag for these drives in the right way.

What 'flag' is this?

OK, so how did you get those two mount points?

/net and /home appeared suddenly after I upgraded to Snow Leopard. /Network/Servers showed up when I clicked on Server Folder which appears when you click All on the network list in Finder.

If you open a terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and type:

ls /Volumes (hit enter)

what does it print out?  Please post your screenshot as a JPEG, TIFF files have to be downloaded and JPEGs will show inline with your posting.

Thanks,

Hi Kirk,

I got the "flag" info from an apple discussion thread as a possibility, why these volumes do not show up under Leopard, but under Snow Leopard. I attached a jpg with the terminalinformation about ls /Volumes on my mac.

Actually I need the screenshot from 'etrigan63' since they're the one with the issue (or do you get the same thing happening?)

Can you point me to the thread that was discussing this information?  A URL would be great!

They are not visible from the commandline using ls. They can only be seen by typing 'mount':

Let's see an ls of the boot volume:

ls /

and please post a JPEG screenshot!

I just ran it and exited without doing anything and it crashed. Attached is the crash report sent to Apple:

It looks like you had previously brought up some dialog that had a list box of some sort in it.  Do you remember which dialogs you had brought up in that last session?

I see them on the root of the hard drive (net and home).  I can add them to the list of potential volumes that PM won't scan at all.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Also add /Network/Servers too.
