I can't access a shared folder on my other computer
« on: November 09, 2010, 02:17:54 PM »
I am running version 4.6.6  in Snow Leopard
I am on a MacBook Pro which can access all the folders on my office computer, which is an iMac.

I can see the other computer's folders in Finder and Bridge, and any software I use ... except Photo Mechanic.

Any ideas?

thanks

What is the path to the folder on the other computer?

In Finder, I click on 'NvN office' and I can see the folders that are accessible to me.

NvN office > Drobo > photos > etc

NvN office > Drobo > photos > etc

I want to know the real path.  Open up a terminal window (Applications/Utilities/Terminal) then type:

ls /Volumes

and hit enter.  Copy the result and paste it in your response to this message.

Thanks,

-Kirk

I don't see any 'NvN office' in your list of Volumes.  Is there some reason you can't access the Drobo drive directly?

What happens if you drag a folder from the Finder (on the Drobo) to the Photo Mechanic application icon in the Dock?

The 'Drobo' there is connected to the office computer.
I access it via Finder, or via a 'Favorite' in Bridge.

Just checking now, any program that uses Finder to find files and folders, (such as Dreamweaver) can access the Drobo or any folder on the office computer.

... and in checking again now, I see that PHoto Mechanic does in fact see the Drobo now. So who knows what went wrong earlier today.

Case closed.  Thanks for the help!
