Adding Text to caption only for a specific FTP-Upload?
« on: October 24, 2010, 11:03:20 AM »
Hi @ all!

I am using PM for nearly a year now and this weekend I struggled for the first time.
I am sending images to different FTP-Servers for image agencies.

Only for 1 agency it is required to put additional text under the image caption.
Is it possible (and if yes, how) to add this specific text only to images, that will be uploaded to this single FTP?

What I do not want: send the images with original caption to the first FTP-Servers, edit the captions to add the additional text and send them to the last FTP-Server. I want to keep all the images without the additional text.

Did you get me? :)

Best regards
Sven

In the Upload dialog, apply an IPTC Stationery Pad that appends the text you want to the Caption field.  Apply it only on the destination that requires it.  Your local images will not be modified.  Only the image at the destination server will have these updates.

Thanks Kirk for the quick reply.

I have in the caption individual names. So these names will be overwritten?

Not if you set the Append checkbox ( the checkbox with a '+' next to it. ) first.

I'll give it a try... :)
Thanks so far!

Edit: OK, that worked. But this edits also the "global" Stationary Pad. An "individual" one for the FTP-upload is not present, right?

Many thanks so far

Ingest has a separate local Stationery Pad that is kept separate from all the other uses of the Stationery pad. for the global (you can save to files your stationery pads), or even you can save Snapshos under the thunderbolt button for quick access to them.
Their use is up to you but maybe it is better to save more recurring stationeries with the snapshot and the more rarely used ones into different files.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

TOP.

I created a snapshot with only the specific text and can load this one if needed!
