problem with renameing photos

Mac OX10.6.6   Photomechanics 10.66

If I rename a serries of photos once everything works well but if I change my mind and want to rename those photos again the sequence messes up.  Lets say the first numbering was cars-001 cars-002 etc  If I want to rename the same set again after deletin several photos, the numbers go cars-0011, cars-0021, cars-0031 etc. rather than cars-001, cars-002 etc.  It is driving me crazy.  Is this a bug or am I not setting something correctly?

You have to reset the sequence number first. Option-click the Set (seqn) Variable button will zero the sequence in a very quick way.

Sorry. I think I didn't read your message carefully the first time...Re-reading it now seems to me you are right...it must be a bug because the sequence should be 001 - 002 - etc.

No, you should have to reset the number back to 001, otherwise the renaming sequence will continue where it left off from the first rename operation.

Besides not resetting the sequence, I think jhart's sequence is jumping from 0011 to 0021, 0031...that's why I thought afterwards it might be a bug.

jhart really should post a screenshot or a description of his renaming and sequence settings as well as the starting filenames and the one he would like to get.
