Phase One raw file support
« on: August 26, 2011, 04:31:11 PM »
I'm at a Phase One workshop where they provide cameras and backs for our use.  PM is not displaying the IIQ files (the raw format file) for the IQ160 back.
I am told the IIQ file is TIFF like and it does contain an embedded jpg or tif.

Has PM been tested with Phase One raw files?

Windows 7 64 bit
PM 4.6.6

(may be slow to respond as we don't have much free time at the workshop)

Tested?  No, but we investigated their file format in the past, and the embedded preview was only suitable for thumbnail generation.  Ask them what resolution the current backs put into their files now.

You are correct, the embedded file is something like 200x200.

They suggested PM use the installed codec to render the image, but I believe PM always relies on the embedded image.

200x200 is quit useless as a preview, a real pity. On windows you have no alternative; PM will indeed only be able to make use of the embedded jpg. On a Mac you can have PM make use of the built-in raw converter, but to change platforms for this feature is going a bit far I think (and I'm not even certain Phase One raw files are supported).

I think the only viable solution may be to convert your files to dng and have the conversion create a (full size) preview.

Hope this would work for you,
