It should definitely increase performance in PM.  Anything that can provide data faster is going to speed up PM.  Striped RAID arrays are great and so are SSD drives.  A striped SSD RAID array would be even better.

We love SSDs.
Huge improvement in anything that accesses a disk...

So true. Click the PM-Icon and it opens instantly.
Images are loaded really fast once they are on the disk...
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

I did it a different way...
MacBook Pro, 15" with 500GB (7.200rpm)
After it was delivered I started to remove the superdrive (never used it an all laptops) and instead I installed a SSD.
Now I have 160GB SSD for OS, Apps, etc and the 500GB Disk as Data-Storage, images, etc...
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Nice!
Be aware that the last two gens of the macbook pro the super drive is on a 3g sata bus and the hard drive is on a 6g sata bus (twice as fast).
If you buy a 6g SSD you'll need to put it where the hard drive is and put the platter drive where the superdrive was...

Marc, my Intel X25-M is "only" a SATA-II disk, so the 3GBit-BUS is fine :)
