Is it crashing or just spontaneously quitting with no error reported by the system?

It was spontaneously quitting but I just tried it again and it didn't quit. Also, what do you recommend for cache settings?

It depends on the capabilities of your system.  How much RAM do you have?  How many apps do you run and how much RAM do they use?

Set the Memory cache to 768 MB.
Set the Disk Cache size to whatever you feel comfortable with.  Mine is 1000 MB.  Set to empty on quit.

HTH,
