Hi,

Here (Mac OSX latest Version) I get a strange behavior when exporting 5D Mark III RAW files from cr2 to TIFF:
There are no informations shown beyond the thumbnails and when I try to read the IPTC stationary data, the opening hangs with this message: "Error reading caption from photo." Clicking "ok", the IPTC Stationery Pad does open.
When I convert from cr2 to Jpeg, everything is ok.

NB: And when I work on the files in Photoshop and save them, the informations are shown again properly ...!???

What software do you use to export the cr2 files to tiff?

Oh, I didn't mention: it is Photo Mechanic of course ...

NB: just tried an idea: it only happens, when the caption field is blank.

Please post a sample file.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your sample file.

Thanks,

Just had a look at both files, I see no issue; as far as I can tell all information is thereā€¦

I'm using a non-public build (13632) of the software though, so perhaps things have gotten fixed in the meantimeā€¦

Hi,

Sad to mention, but: this issue is not solved by the latest version:
with an empty caption field the error still occurs as described and the star ratings given to the rawfile are not displayed.

I'm confused then.  In your last post you said the problem was fixed.  Now it isn't.  Is the problem intermittent?

Hi Kirk
It is surprising for me, too ... after the first opening of the newest version the transfer of the Stationary Pad worked, now I have the same issue.
I just opened one tiff in Photoshop, it says, that there are informations in the file, that can't be read by and therefor will be ignored. When I open the data informations in PS, there are no camera data but all the other informations I added within PM....

Perhaps if you can give us a sample source file (CR2 was it?), an IPTC Stationery Pad XMP file, and a picture of your Save As dialog settings, we could reproduce the problem.

Thanks,

Hi Kirk,

should I do the upload here or to another location (the raw files of the 5D Mark III are rather "fat" )?

I can give you FTP server info where you can upload the files, or you can upload them to some other server and give us the download details.  Your choice.
