Ingest files with audio annotation
« on: May 11, 2013, 09:26:33 PM »
Due to the fact that the 1Dx isn't so "customizable" as it should be, the lock button has to be enabled on the audio annotation button.  With that, you can record audio but you can't playback, only lock.  So for those of use using heavy audio annotation enabling the lock is not an option.  I think there should be a way to ingest files with audio in addition to locked files.

Hi Jim!

PM is already ingesting the files WITH audio recorded.
You can see a liitle icon near the rating in the thumbnail view and the same icon on the lower left in the image preview.
For the playback of the recorded audio press "A".

I think he wants the option to ingest only images that are locked or have audio associated with them since his camera cannot lock an image and record a sound for a given photo.  Photos that he has either locked or recorded audio for are important for him to get ingested straight away and he'll ingest the others later when he has more time.

Jim, correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree that could be a great option in the Ingest Dialog, since the Canon 1Dx has a "flaw" in my mind that makes it easy to switch to the secondary card, recording audio notes can (if not well validated) end up on the secondary card. It happened a few times to me.

I don't quite get the nature of this 1DX error, what works improperly there?

Anyway such option would be great since photos with an audio clip usually have a higher probability to be important - and thus one would not need to additionally protect the photo once the audio file is recorded saves a push of a button for every image one recored - not much to cut but it can add up quite something for a longer shoot...
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.
