I'd have to have the image to work with in order to fix this problem.  Please send me a personal message and I'll give you instructions on how to send us the sample image.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hello,

It looks like DxO is saving a thumbnail in the TIFF file that is compressed using a very old format called "PackBits" which was created by Apple for the original Macintosh (yes, 1984-ish).  It is a lossless run-length encoding.  Photo Mechanic doesn't support this and is getting tripped-up by its use.

It also appears you are not generating high quality thumbnails for some reason (see Preferences / Contact Sheet - Thumbnails - "generate high quality thumbnails").  Since PM doesn't recognize PackBits and you are telling PM to not shrink the full image down then it is drawing a garbage thumbnail.

I will try to fix this so it forces PM to generate a thumbnail from the full resolution image when PackBits is used.  But in the meantime you can turn this "high quality thumbnail" preference ON, or perhaps tell DxO to use some other algorithm for thumbnail compression (e.g. JPEG).

Hope that helps!

An update: I fixed PM so it will now ignore the PackBits thumbnail and force a resize from the full resolution TIFF image.

Also, from what I've read, PackBits isn't really meant for RGB images (it was designed primarily for grayscale, palette, or bi-tonal images).

Does DxO ViewPoint support JPEG thumbnails?  PM will only accept uncompressed or JPEG thumbnails (although the actual full-resolution TIFF data can be LZW compressed).

Thanks Kirk and Dennis, now I generate high quality for thumbnails and all is fine.
(I suppose I put restrictions with my old and weak  MacBookAir )

Sorry for the work I give you, you are the best computer scientists !
