PM 5 shows false resolution
« on: September 06, 2013, 03:42:54 AM »
Hello,

PM 5 shows the false resolution in the window-title.

This week I made some pics in RAW-Mode with my Canon 1D Mark III.
After ingest PM shows the false Quality in the title of the preview-window.

The Quality is EXACTLY the Quality of the Canon 1D Mark III-sRAW-Fomat, but the Picture has created in RAW-Mode. So it has to be 3888 x 2592 Pixels.  :o

The attached Screenshots shows the problem: The Window-Title shows 1936 x 1288 Pixels (the sRAW-Resolution), but the EXIF-Data shows the right quality "Quality: RAW". See screenshot "reso-false.jpg"
After converting to jpg, the Image will be shown with right Quality. See Screenshot "reso-right.jpg".

The RAW-Preview out of Canon 1D X shows the right Quality.

Hi!

The MK III stores no full resolution jpg in the raw file.

That's the reason for showing the "wrong" image dimension.
On a Mac you have the possibility to enable "RAW rendering". This will give you the full resolution.

After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Thanks for explain, Sven!

But RAW-Rendering will need more time to show the Image, right?

yes, a bit. And that depends also on the amount of images in the folder.

I also use a MK III and a MK IV. As I am editing more or less every image I don't care of the dimensions shown in PM.
After editing and saving as JPG the full resolution image is saved.

PS: LaPaDu is a nice place to shoot especially in the evening :)
Have been there twice

I'm living in Bochum. It's only 35 km far and I've been there many times.

I've been there with my son who is a non-photographer. He get's my 1D Mark III to get some shoots for fun, while I get the "real" shoots with the 1D X.

Greets from Bochum,
