Concurrent /simultaneaous ingest
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:24:13 PM »
Hello,
I am running PM v469 on a PC with Win7x64
I am trying to ingest simultaneaously multiple cards of the same event and have their contents downloaded to separate folders .
I tried and use the ingestseq variable , but it gives the same number when I perform the ingest in one run .
Only if I ingest the cards one by one is the variable incremented.
Is this working as designed or I am doing something wrong ?

ps any recommendations to optimize download performance on a computer with pm ?
Is v5 faster than v4 regarding this, any experience with new Lexar HR Workflow usb3 hub ?

Instead of selecting all of your cards at once, select one card and begin the Ingest.  Then bring up Ingest again and select another card and begin the Ingest.  Do this for all cards.  Your images will now be downloaded in parallel and you will get different ingest sequences for each card.

Parallel is much faster than serial as long as you have the bandwidth.

Hi, Kirk
Thanks for this invaluable tip about the difference between serial and parallel ingest and the subsequent increase in speed.
