FTP/SSL upload
« on: September 12, 2013, 04:19:55 AM »
Hi,

Our IT dept are currently rolling out a new, more secure FTP sever that uses the FTP/SSL protocol.

Had a look at the FTP settings available on PM 5.0 (Build 13915) and it doesn't seem to support this.

Am I correct ?

If not - would you have any plans to include this in a future update ?

Don't want to have to use an external FTP program, when at the moment PM, does such a fantastic job at handling FTP currently.

Thanks

John

We do support SFTP which is secure.  Can they roll out an SFTP server instead?

Hi Kirk,

Firstly, thank you for the usual speedy reply.

Have spoken to our IT dept, and they will now look into the possibility of setting up a separate SFTP sever, as apparently the new server they are planning to use ( Microsoft Webserver - I think ) doesn't currently offer that option.

So long as the costs aren't too massive, think they will be happy to configure things so that we can carry on using PM.

Thanks again,

John

Hi Alex,

At the moment they have just taken the easy option of leaving the plain ftp connections enabled, alongside the newer FTP/SSL.

Turned out that it wasn't just Photo Mechanic that was affected by the change, but several other ftp connections that we use, for example when sending via FTP direct from cameras with wifi transmitters.

Regards,

John
