parent folder
« on: November 03, 2013, 05:10:02 PM »
I'm not sure what version I was using before this current version, but the export path I was using worked with no problems.

I was using this in Save As for the Create Subfolder - ../ForClient
With version 5.0 build 15011, now the .. (dot dot) is replaced with -. (dash dot) and the folder created is the same folder as the source images.

/ClientName/TiffFolder/-./ForClient is created instead of /ClientName/ForClient

So I found out by looking on this forum that I should be using one of the built-in variables. I tried them, but that made the folder structure from the root and put it under the source folder.

I tried all of these but the outcome was the same.
{parentfolderpath}
/{parentfolderpath}
{pfpt}

This is the outcome of the above variables.
/Users/username/Workspace/ClientName/TiffFolder/Users/username/Workspace/ClientName/TiffFolder/ForClient

I'm using OS X 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro using Photo Mechanic version 5.0 build 15011.

The next build of PM 5 will once again allow you to enter "../" in your Create Subfolder field.

Kirk,

Is the {parentfolderpath} variable suppose to work like this for Save As or should it not be used in this case and use ..?

Also can I download the prior build until this problem is fixed?

Thanks,
Fred

The {parentfolderpath} variable is working as it is supposed to work.  To do what you're trying to do would need the use of "../", yes.

Yes, you can certainly download the 13915 build if you want.

Mac:

Windows:
http://www.camerabits.com/download/PM5SetupR13915.exe
