xmp file extension spelling
« on: June 06, 2024, 11:00:52 AM »
I have noticed that in PM6 the spelling of the xmp extension has changed from lower case (.xmp) to upper case (.XMP). I can track the change to 2022 in my database.
Is there a reason for this change?
The problem is that other programs such as Affinity or XnView only read metadata from a file with a lowercase .xmp extension.
PM6 seems to read both spellings.
Is it possible to change the spelling of the ending back to lower case?

Thomas
PM6 build 7102, Windows 11

Please post a screenshot of your Files page of the Preferences dialog in Photo Mechanic Plus.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

Ok, I found it:
I didn't realize that file extensions dialog also apply to sidecar file.
When I switch to "Use lower case extensions" PM6 generate sidecar files with the lowercase ending .xmp.
Thanks for the help.
