I have purchased Photo Mechanic Plus, but until a few minutes ago, I was completely lost.
I have all the photos I currently want to keep track of in this folder on my iMac: pictures/_photolab_ and beneath that I have folders, sub-folders, sub-sub folders, and so on.
When I go into PhotoMechanic, at the top left is what I think are icons for the NAVIGATOR (on left) and ORGANIZER (to the right).
I tried to set up a new catalog for the top level folder /pictures/_photolab_/
I have my own organized system for placing my files under that starting point.
NAVIGATOR
I created a "Favorite" labeled _PhotoLab_. Underneath that, I see my folder organization.
Moving down a bit more, I see Navigator", which seems to be a list of all my folders on my iMac.
When I click on any of those folders, I see thumbnails at the right seemingly for every photo in, or below, that folder.
Navigator seems to be a listing of every folder on my iMac, with drop-down arrows to see what is inside of folders.
Before I go any further, is what I've written so far correct? Navigator shows me all the folders on my iMac, and ALL the photos in that folder, or in sub-folders underneath it.
I assume this as nothing to do with catalogs yet - it's just allowing me to quickly view all the images on my computer.
Clicking on any of the folders under "favorites" doesn't bring up thumbnails.
Thumbnails only show up with I click on a folder displayed under "Navigator".
Yes??? If so, I'll ask my next question.
