Really basic file rename question (Sorry)

When I'm ingesting how to I automatically prefix the numerical part of the file name with a 1?

Generally you rename with the {seqn} (Sequence) variable.

What is an example of the final filename that you're shooting for?  That will help me answer your question.

I'd like to keep numbering in sequence so ideally after IMG_9999.CR2 I'd like IMG_10000.CR2, IMG_100001.CR2 etc

Then you can set the sequence variable to 10000 to start.  Select your 0001+ images and rename them like this:

IMG_{seqn}

That's it.

BTW - How do you know when your one year's worth of updates are up? I'm trying to figure out if I can still install the latest version

You can use the "Check for Updates" command.  It will tell you what you can get as your latest version.  It is on the Help menu on Windows, and on the Photo Mechanic menu on Mac OS X.
