PNG (with transparency) display very incorrectly

PNG images with transparency (alpha) preserved do not display correctly in PM, and these display issues translate to other formats if saved from PM. I've attached an example.

PM 4.6.8 (although also noticed in 4.6.7)
Mac OS X 10.6
Intel Processor

PM does not handle transparency or alpha channel information.  I'm not surprised it looks like your example.
