batch exporting of captions
« on: June 04, 2014, 01:58:09 AM »
Hi
Is it possible to export the text from multiple captions into a single document?
I can export text from individual captions using Export - Text Exporter . I thought selecting a number of images before selecting Export - Text Exporter would export the text from all the images into a single document but it just exports the text from the first image selected.
Thanks
Chris

Yes.  I just tried it again myself.  I selected several images and then opened up the Exporter and chose the Text Exporter template.  I set a header and footer text so I could see where the captions began and ended.  I set the "Replace Carriage Returns & Line Feeds with Single Space (Excel friendly)" checkbox.  I entered {caption}{nl} in the middle text field.  I set the Saving option to "Save all as one file" and then clicked the "Export" button.  I chose a destination text file name and got a file with my header, the individual captions, one on each line, and my footer text.

HTH,

-Kirk

Hello,

This is a nice trick. The nl is not needed, for example {city} {cnty} exports city and country separated by a space, one picture a line.

The {nl} creates a new line to have a single line per image.
Without the {nl} you will end up with a really long line depending on the image count where the meta data should be exported from.
