Photo Mechanic Plus Beta 21
« on: August 27, 2020, 10:58:39 AM »
Hello Everyone,

This is the twentieth update to the Photo Mechanic Plus beta.  This beta is open to all Photo Mechanic 6 users.  We would appreciate you trying the beta of Photo Mechanic Plus and giving us your feedback and relay any bugs that you find to us.  Two new message boards have been created to discuss the beta.  Please do not discuss the beta on any of the other boards.  For support on the beta post in http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?board=22.0, and to request features, post in http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?board=23.0

Please note that the Photo Mechanic Plus Beta is not feature complete nor is it tuned for maximum performance.  Any catalogs you create may need to be updated if the underlying database format changes.

We invite you to be part of the development process.

Public Beta 21 Release (R5029) 08/25/2020

All Platforms:
● Added: Collections are now per-catalog. This means that the active catalogs each contribute a top-level collection branch (sorted by name) where you can create collection trees beneath. Only collections whose catalog is both set to search and add/modify can be modified or have images added or removed from collections. If an image being added to a collection does not yet exist in the corresponding catalog then a warning dialog will appear with options: either add to the catalog, or skip those items.
● Added: New Creator’s Identity field which allows a photographer to list their identifying characteristics.
● Added: Cancel button has been added to the Editor chooser dialog.
● Added: Support for multiple PhotoShelter uploads without creating multiple sessions.
● Added: Scan to Catalog now ignores hidden files.
● Added: Custom Search filter now has a snapshot button that is shared with the Quick Search snapshots.
● Fixed: Keyboard shortcuts (cut, copy, paste, select all, select word, select to start or end of line, etc.) now work in Catalog-based text fields, including the Quick Search field.
● Fixed: Adding items to collections now only causes collection-based tabs to refresh since they’re the only tabs capable of being affected.
● Fixed: Manually rescanning a catalog-based Contact Sheet now reissues the search and updates the results.
● Fixed: Deleting a photo in the Preview window that is viewing a Catalog-based Contact Sheet (search, browse, filter) no longer advances twice.
● Fixed: Snapshots in Catalog UI are no longer in random order.
● Fixed: Label (variable) changes don't refresh automatically in catalog.
● Fixed: Adding images to a sub-collection no longer increments parent count, when the same images also exist in the parent collection.
● Fixed: Now reads camera-written copyright and artist from Fuji camera photos.
● Fixed: Filename sort is no longer slower than usual if using color class or star rating filters.
● Fixed: Disable JPEG quality slider when limiting file size. Having the quality slider enabled confused a number of users so it has been disabled when limiting file size and has no effect.
● Fixed: Thumbnail labels with large amounts of whitespace no longer draw beyond the thumbnail cell width.
● Fixed: Ingest no longer copies XMP files if present when ingesting non-RAW photos only.
● Fixed: Copy to 'Location shown table' no longer copies a full set of empty fields, producing an empty row that would not be noticed by most users.
● Fixed: Ingest Tasks dialog now disables the Stop button when no active ingest task is selected.
● Fixed: Send Photos via Email no longer uses the Save As dialog’s DPI setting. It now uses the DPI settings found in the Files page of the Preferences dialog.
● Fixed: {quality} for Compressed Sony ARW files now shows “Compressed RAW” instead of “Uncompressed RAW”.

macOS:
● Fixed: New Folder Inside this Folder could select the wrong folder for editing.
● Fixed: Edit now available for movie files from within the Preview window.
● Fixed: Find and Replace retains settings when opened after re-launch.
● Fixed: Move to Trash in Navigator should now work on network drives when the folder is not empty.

Windows:
● Fixed: A GDI handle leak that was responsible for the crashes that many users have been experiencing since Photo Mechanic 6 was released.
● Fixed: Loupe view now works for all images on Contact Sheet, regardless of position.
● Fixed: Dragging photos to arrange them now works correctly.
● Fixed: Contact sheet now automatically updates when upload status changes or files are renamed.
