Not Responding message

I have started to get the above message when I am editing captions and keywords etc. I input text and copy the same text in order to inset it into similar images. When I then try to Save and move on to the next image to the right I get the message "Not Responding". I then have to either use the manager to shut it down and re open or wait for PM to ask if I want to shut it down. Windows also tries to find a solution but does not mange to. The problem seems to be the image I am trying to move on to.

I did think it might be particular images that are the problem and I took some images this afternoon but it started again. Images are TIF usually between 28-52Mb in size.

Using Window 7 Pro. 4Gb ram. PM is installed on my C: drive (80Gb) and I have the cache on the D: drive (1Tb).

It can take quite a while to insert the metadata inside a 30+ MB file.  What happens if you give it some time?

Where did the images come from? (What application or camera produced the TIFF files?)

Some of the images are scanned transparencies from medium format slides, output is to a TIF file. Epson Perfection 4870 used to scan. Other images are from a Nikon D200 or a D700. Latter can be NEF or TIF.

I tried changing the name of the slide that seemed to be the culprit. It started with "_DSC". Took out the underscore and shortened the file name to less than 8 letters and this seems to have worked. Does that give you any clues?

I don't think filenames could have any effect on the issue.  If you ever come up with a file that consistently reproduces the issue, please let me know.
