Catalog / Media Pro
« on: May 31, 2016, 07:52:22 PM »
Do you have any idea yet Kirk whether Catalog will be able to import the archive/database from Capture One's Catalog software ?
Having been waiting a few years now for Catalog to arrive i'm going to have to bite the bullet and give up and get on with a massive way overdue update of my iView archive to Media Pro.

Catalog won't be importing any databases from other vendors in its initial release.  If images already have all of the metadata tagged either internally or in XMP sidecar files, then the Catalog Ingest will pick up all of the metadata anyway.

Hello ,
I'm also waiting for a long time now for a catalog solution from Camerabit to replace my Media Pro (not so usefull than iview).
Could you please just let us know if we have to wait for a real catalog or face to some issues (I do not know which ones) , finally Camerabit will never have a real catalog solution.

Hi jmi,

We are working on the product right now, and doing our utmost to make sure it meets the high standards of Photo Mechanic. When it is ready, we will proclaim it loudly to the world, so stay tuned.  Thank you very much!

Can we expect Santa Claus from Camera Bits finally in new 2017 ?

Cheers,

Looks like questions about launching of Catalog are not very welcome...

I wouldn't put it quite that way.  What is true, though, is that we are working on it, but we're absolutely positively not going to comment on a release date until it is ready. When it is ready we will announce it as loud as we can.

Thanks,

Mick

Would it be possible to hear what happened to the Catalog version that was demonstrated at PhotoPlus in late 2011?
Was a start over from scratch needed?

No rewrite was needed, just progression towards what we're working to complete now.  More capacity and capability now exists than what you saw then.

Thanks, Kirk,
You must have a lot of difficult problems to solve.
Looking forward to seeing it.

Ouch, you are in trouble... !
For those who are searching for a catalog solution *now*, I went from MediaPro to Daminion and I am more than happy with it.

Good to know.  We're sincerely glad you found a solution that works for you.

Since you're still perusing and posting on the forum here, and in the interest of letting you know we're listening, I will say that work on our new release continues unabated.

Regards,

-Mick
