Special Characters in code replacement show up as ?

I have a code replacement with the word München however when I enter /m/ I get M?nchen but if I copy and paste from the same file it pastes fine.... what am I doing wrong?? HELP!!

Your Code Replacement file must be UTF-8 encoded or non-ascii characters will not be represented correctly.

There are free-ware text editors for both Mac OS X and Windows that let you choose the encoding of the text you enter.
