How to speed up the Ingest with a Lexar workflow hub
« on: August 21, 2016, 09:26:10 AM »
Hi there at camera bits,

I am on 10.11.6 with 32GB RAM an PM5 build 17338. My reader is a Lexar Workflow Hub.
Sometimes the ingest with more cards is getting really slow.
I get a lot - Getting Sort Data or Filtering.

What is the best setting to improve the speed - Should the selector set on Filename or Capture Time or what is best ???

The is a mistake in my workflow !!!

Best Dirk

Filename sort is the fastest sort type by far.  If you do renaming during ingest and use the {tims} (time sort} variable as the start of your filename, then Filename sorting will be equivalent to Capture Time sorting, but will be much faster.

Thanks a lot Kirk !

I upgraded to the newest build, now ! What are the best settings in the prefs for the caching ?

And what is about the location of the disk cache ? I am on on iMac with fusion drive ( there is the cache now )

Should I put it on the SSD connected with Thunderbolt where my Lightroomlibrary lives ???

All the best from Berlin

The defaults should be fine.

The faster the read/write access the better.  Choose the disk with the fastest access.  Then make sure that Spotlight doesn't index the folder that you use as your PM cache.
