IPTC: Missing list of locations, city etc.

I used to have a long list of locations and cities. Suddenly they are all gone.
No, I do not have a backup of the list.
(I do have a keyword-backup )

Any suggestions?

Looks like you are on a Mac, you do have a Time Machine backup, don't you? If so, look for the preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefs and restore that. As far as I know, the locations are stored there (but I'm sure, Kirk will correct me here).

Hayo, Close.  Same folder, but the file is now com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefsdb

Karsten, Restore that file and you should be back in business.

Nothing like com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefsdb ?

What about the "com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic" folder?  All of the preferences will be in that folder.  It is located in:

/Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences/

I couldn't find it first because it is a hidden folder. I found it on my mac and it looks like this. I have attached a screenshot from my mac. Which one is it to be replaced?

Copy the entire folder over and you should get all of your settings back.
