ftp progress bars?

I did two ftp transfers today. With the first, there were three progress bars on the bottom left of the screen, with the second, there were no bars, but a small square on each photo changed from yellow to green to indicate when each photo had been sent. Why was I seeing two different things?

Did you hide the "Tasks" pane?

No I don't think I did (not knowingly anyway). Or maybe I did. I will keep an eye out for it in the future. Thanks for replying Kirk.
