Problem with customizing IPTC Stationary
« on: May 19, 2017, 08:22:23 AM »
Hi,

I am in the process of editing my IPTC Info and IPTC Stationary pads for changed needs. It's a bit tiresome on my pc (Win 10 x64; PM v5 build 18327)  to change an entry from true to false. Judging from screenshot it's a lot easier on a Mac :-( The biggest issue right now is that I can not move an entry from column 1 to column 2. It will just stay in it's colums. When I move the entry to the other column it is shown there but also at it's original spot. Saving the change does not fix the entry at the newly moved to position.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I know it used to work for me since I edited them before.

Cheers
Oliver

Oliver,

No idea.  If you save what you have as a snapshot and post it here I will edit for you and post it back here.

Thanks Kirk,

it's not just one change I would like to make but rather merging the given friends from two major clients into one pad that covers all. I attached on of my snapshots.

In your snapshot file (it's just a text file that you can edit directly), the Urgency field is only listed once.  Try Restore Defaults and then load your snapshot.  I expect the problem will be fixed.

I already restored to defeaults and then loaded my snapshot. This did not change the behaviour. Yes, urgency is only stored once - in it's original column. When I try to move it to column 2 it is shown there (like in my previous screenshot) but it's not saved there.

Well, it's supposed to leave the column you dragged it from and move to the column you dragged it into.  It shouldn't be in both places.

Unfortunately I does not leave column 1. I will try doing the same on my laptop (Win 7) and see what happens there.

I looked more closely at your settings file and it's a snapshot from the IPTC Info customization and not the IPTC Stationery Pad.

Do you have a snapshot from your IPTC Stationery Pad customization?  Hold down the Shift key when choosing your snapshot and a Windows Explorer should open a folder named "CustomizeIPTCStationeryDialog" and your snapshot should be listed.

Thank you Kirk but unfortunately I have to move a lot more entries around. I have just tried the same on my Win 7 laptop with the same up to date PM build. Same problem.
Maybe somebody else with PM running on windows could try moving an entry from one column to the other.

I'll have one of the Q/A guys try it out on Monday, but the snapshot file is a simple text file and can be edited directly if you like.  Open it with a text editor that can edit UTF8 text and simply relabel and change the column numbers from "0" to "1".

HTH,

We've got a fix in the works.  Let me know if you want early access.
