I've downloaded Photo mechanic for Mac OSX 10.4.9. I'm trying to download raw files from my 5D but whenever I click ingest it never shows. Am I going about it completely wrong or is Photo Mechanic not capable of downloading files. The camera is connected to the Mac via a usb cable. Help!

If your camera does not show up on the desktop as a disk icon then Photo Mechanic will not be able to see it.

Do you have a card reader?  If so, use that instead of directly connecting your camera.  If not, then consider the purchase of a card reader.  You won't be sorry: they often read files several times faster than using the camera directly and time is money, right?

Thanks Kirk, much appreciated. My trial runs out on 27 March. Will have to try and get hold a card reader asap.

If you're getting a USB reader, make sure it is a USB 2.0 reader and not a USB 1.1 reader, or if you have a Firewire port on your system, get a Firewire reader.
