Setting to download photos before videos
« on: February 08, 2018, 04:32:19 AM »
Is there any setting or other solution to have PM download photos before videos? Just like protected images are treated in such a way.

I think for those shooting both photos and videos with same camera on the same card it could speed up the workflow if PM could be set to download all the photos before starting to download the much larger thus slower downloaded videos (or vica versa for videographers, but I guess some small photos dont cause that much trouble among the large video files).

I don’t know if it can be easily implemented or at all possible, but I would love such a feature speeding up my work - but I didnt yet find one so I don’t know id it is a support question or should be sent as a feature request.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

There is no such feature in PM at this time.  Feel free to make a feature request.

It would be a helpful feature to request, I agree.

One possible workaround would be to browse to the card via the Navigator, open up the card as a contact sheet and sort by type, then Copy the images over manually.   We definitely caution against making any changes to the card (like rating or adding keywords) to files on a memory card, but if all you are doing is copying, that should be fine, I think.

Another workaround can be to protect the photos in camera - but it is an additional step and takes extra time. A PM setting could save more time.

As I have PM put files into named folders change filenames to certain naming convention, add IPTC data, the manual copy would make more manual work instead of automation, but thanks for your reply.

Thanks Kirk, I add it as a feature request then.
