Counting characters in fields

Is there an easy way to see, how many characters are entered into an IPTC field (especially interested in the caption field), in Photo Mechanic, as my captions were too long a few times for an agency I'm supplying.

No, no such feature exists in Photo Mechanic.

Would be a great feature to have (counting characters, and words). Would save a lot of copying and pasting to a text editor simply to count the numbers.
