Hello,

Just wondering if you are still on track for a PM6 / Catalog release in 2018?

Thanks,

Matthew

Yes, even if it kills us.

Good to hear! :)

Not the bit about killing you though - looking forward to PM 7 in due course, so you need to survive for a bit longer yet  ;D

Yes, I'd even be willing to wait until January 2cnd of 2019 if it meant your continued survival.  ;)

With the new iPads just announced today, and a full version of Photoshop for IOS shown, might not a version of PM for the iPad be warrented?

Being able to do the tasks that PM so ably handles on a iPad would be a godsend to my workflow and a lot of other travelling pros I would imagine...

We have no plans to develop a Photo Mechanic app for the iPad at this time.

Given the deficiencies of even the USB C iPad Pros at metadata and file management, that's a good decision to not make an app. It wouldn't be able to do much.

And besides, more energy for the badly needed next version of PM...before a system update renders it useless (10.15 on the Mac?).

Kirk & team,
Are you planning to open beta testing for PM 6 to non-friendlies?

The ?even if it kills us? date is rapidly approaching.  :)

Cheers,
Ray

There will indeed be an open beta.

Kirk,

Just so I can adjust my expectations, does the commitment to a December 2018 release refer to an open beta release, with a proper general release to follow later in 2019? If so, typically how many months pass between an open beta and a general release?

Thanks.

Hey all,

Regarding my statement of a release by the end of the year even if it kills us: We are making good progress and our development velocity is good.  We did a private beta test with a small group in October, and the feedback was amazing. The group not only validated the new offering but also offered insight into some additional functionality that in review, we agreed would further benefit the product offering and increase its value. All that to say, PM6 is still in the works and it's going to be a fantastic tool. We will be releasing it in 2019 and promise it will redefine asset organization in ways that you all would expect from us but didn't imagine. Stay tuned, we're alive and driving, stronger than ever.

When, approximately, do you expect to release this?

Quote
Yes, buying an upgrade to PM5 via the Black Friday sale is the cheapest way to get PM6.

Presumably you will continue to honour this for those who bought a licence in the Black Friday sale, irrespective of the delayed release date.
