PM problems with network share items
« on: January 06, 2019, 05:20:19 AM »
I am using latest PM  5.0 (build 19728 (3c52d76)) with OSX 10.14.2

Looking old files at network share and PM seems to freeze and not responding to mouse (or any other) commands for long time. After that freeze light table is jumping around for while....and after that whole thing again freeze-jumping.
(there is no difference what type files are, jpg, raw, tiff same result)

Looking at log files there is nothing else strange than : /Volumes/DataRAID/ExpandingGalaxy...
I don?t have anything like that shares at my computer!

I have be using PM several years and with same shares, and haven?t got any major problems before, so maybe it?s mojave problem, but these log entrys were interesting.

Those are paths to the source code on the computer that built PM5, specifically the source code reporting the messages.

I have be using PM several years and with same shares, and haven't got any major problems before, so maybe it's mojave problem, but these log entrys were interesting.

Do you have a PMDebug.txt file in the following location?

/Users/<your login name>/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic/

I expect that you do and that it has some debug flags turned on.  You can either rename that file, or delete it.  The log messages will go away.  But it will not solve your freezing problems.

Are you using iMovie before running PM5?

Indeed, I had PMdebug.txt file, I have migrated settings from old computer by copying all preference folder files to new one.

About iMovie , I don?t have iMovie installed.

There is something other than PM behind this slowness, as this is not happening all the time (now I tested with same files , all looks smooth... haven?t today even rebootted my computer between good and bad runs, though have closed PM between runs)

I have some apps same time looking at same folders as PM : PathFinder or NeoFinder, But it doesn?t make difference if I shut those down when slowness happens or cannot cause slowness by starting those apps before or after PM.

Now log has these messages:
Photo Mechanic version 5.0.0.0 build 19728 (3c52d76)

I found out what was causing slowness issues.
When ever I have Plex streaming music from other Nas server  (where Plex serve runs) PM will be very slow. (Plex client running same mac as PM)
So, I don?t listen music while using PM, problem solved!

more findings...when ever using Plexamp as client (to stream music from same source as with webclient) all works fine, so music can continuing to play!!!
Problem is related somehow Plex web browser client using same resources as PM is using when accessing network shares...
