Open Image Already in LR to Cull and Tag/Rate

New to PM.  Need to quickly cull about 1,000 images.  Needless to say, slow in LR.  Can images that are already in LR be opened in PM, culled, tagged, and brought back to LR?

There is nothing to bring back.  PM works with images in the folders on your drives.  LR catalogs them but won't know about the changes you've made outside of LR with PM (or any other app).  When you resume your work in LR, you'll have to get it to check for missing items and to reload metadata from the images that you've changed.
