HELP!!! Won't erase source disk after ingest - PM6 (Build 2818)

Hey Kirk,

So I downloaded Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 3023 (40f5885) hoping that it would resolve the problem, but sadly not.

Upon ingest, the memory card is still retaining some images on there, most notably ones that I have tagged for selection. I had two cameras both of which had their contents downloaded to my MacBook at half time of a sports fixture only for me to insert back in camera and see some images (not the entire lot) still residing on memory card.

Here is the specs of my equipment.

Nikon D5, Sony 32GB XQD Memory card
Image Type: Jpeg
Computer: MacBook Pro 2108 (2.9 GHz Intel Core i9, 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB)
Mac OS: MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.4 (18E226)

In addition to this I am noting that when I click 'Save to Folder' or 'copy to folder' and click on the three dots to select a folder, it is taking in the region of 9-12 seconds for the finder to appear. Most irregular!

Have also attached the Pm Zip file.

Any help welcomed.

Just discovered this issue too while on a job. Also, the resulting duplicates from multiple ingests of the same images are not renamed to A, B, C etc - they are renamed per the naming convention specified in my ingest settings - so it's very difficult to clear out all dups!

Until this problem is truly fixed, please format your cards inside your camera.

Hi Kirk,

Further update: The problem is only attributable if you have images that are tagged. I shot an event today and did not tag any images in camera and when i ingested, it formatted the card a-ok.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Just tried this morning... work for my Canon 1D MKII CF card (Lexar 32G 1066X and a Lexar USB 3.0 card reader), but doesn't work with my Integral Ultima ProX CFast 2.0 64G and a Integral Cfast 2.0 Reader : USB 3.0)
I'm currently working with a macbook pro 13 Retina from 2013 with 10.14.4

When you say "doesn't work" what do you mean?  I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 3023 (40f5885)

This build is actually worse in my case. If I have "erase source disk(s) after ingest" checked, photo mechanic terminates abruptly and a "quit unexpectedly" os dialog appears.

If I uncheck "erase source disks" this doesnt happen.
I have "copy locked photos only" selected. As I lock the pics on my camera that I want to hold on to.

But on the plus side, with this version - it seems to keep a record of what has already been ingested and doesnt ingest another copy of the same pic every time I put the card in and do an ingest.
