Tagging photos in Zoom mode

Is there a command to tag photos when an individual photo is zoomed from the preview mode please as the photostrip underneath the zoomed photo cuts off just above the point of the box ticked when individual photo is zoomed? Otherwise I have to click escape to return to the unzoomed preview to tick the tagged box.

Are you talking about the "View Crop" mode instead of Zoom?  You should be able to rate/tag/color class while zoomed.   You cannot do those operation while in View Crop mode.
