strange symbol between keywords

I notice something strange.
I'm using Photo Mechanic and Fotostation to keyword my images. I'm using structured keywords.
When I now under PM6 look at the keywords I get " | " as a separator instead of a comma.
I have no idea what is going on here.
Hope someone can help me out here.

Those are structured (hierarchical keywords) arranged in a path and the '|' characters are the separators between the path components of your structured keywords that you're applied.  That's how you tell the difference between them and a normal keyword.

They're both expected and required by the XMP specification.

Rather than have two keywords fields in PM, we put both kinds of keywords into the Keywords field and this is how we differentiate them visually.
