"Metadata (IPTC) Template" issue
« on: December 20, 2019, 11:48:14 AM »
After the PM6 update to the newest version 4150, the "Metadata (IPTC) Template" window shows always "Date". If I change "Date" to "Capture Time" or "Today" and close the template and reopen the "Metadata (IPTC) Template" window, PM6 4150 jumps back to "Date". I never had this issue in the previous versions…

Yes this is verified as a bug. We are working to fix ASAP. In the meantime:

The IPTC Metadata Template dialog always opens with Date chosen, even after having closed the dialog with another setting such as Capture Time.

However, the setting you have when you close this dialog will be set.
The problem is only with loading and displaying the dialog.  Unfortunately, if you open the dialog, then “close” it, then the setting has changed to Date.

If you open then dialog and see Date, but instead cancel out (by ESC or dialog close box), and don’t save changes, then internally it will still be set to, for example, Capture Time (the setting visible when closing the dialog).

If you intend to have the Capture Time be in every photo, then you don’t need to apply this since this is the default

For those having this problem where they just want the capture time to be used for the IPTC/XMP date/time, just don’t check the apply box in the Metadata Template for Date.  PM will by default use the capture time for the IPTC date and time when ingesting/copying.

And if you would like to roll back to a prior version:

Kirk, thank you very much for your support. That's what I appreciate about Photo Mechanic. A phenomenal software on one side and super-fast and helpful support on the other side. Thank you from a daily user.

Please try build 4155 (see link in Kirk's post above). If that works for you, then I'm sure the same fix will be applied to the next PM Plus build :)

Hayo, I am using 4155 for PM6 on Macbook Pro and issue is solved, but in PM6 Plus on which I use on my MacMini this issue is still present in PM6 Plus Photo Mechanic Plus Version 6.0, build 4128 (7dbb043).
