Deleted files not showing in trash

I'm running Version 6.0, build 4155 (e068498) on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1

I've never encountered this issue and it started suddenly this morning.  When deleting files from PM, which have already been downloaded to my HD, they do not go into the "trash".  It seems that a placeholder file remains within the folder that contains no original data.  I cannot delete this file as it cannot be located, which makes sense, since I deleted it.

PM preferences are set to move deleted files to trash.  I turned on the sound and hear that the action is occurring, but still no visual result.  Is this an OS issue or a combination of PM and Mac OS?
