Strange cropping dimensions
« on: April 19, 2020, 07:09:43 AM »
Hi all,

My workflow is to put all original photo's in a tree called "original photo's". Then I put the adjustments on the original photo (such as cropping to 16*9 - for displaying the photo's on my tv). But, when I put a cropping mask over the photo I see the following strange dimensions:
Dimensions: 4928 * 3708
Dimensions crop: 1437 * 808 (but I cropped the full width of the photo).

What's going on? Now I'm loosing almost all the quality....
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

What type of files are this? Could it be the embedded preview is not full size?

Hi Hayo,

These are raw (Sony) files with the extension ARW.

Cheers,

Rien.

Rien,

These are raw (Sony) files with the extension ARW.

Sony RAW files only contain a low-resolution preview in them.  If you process the image in the Adobe Camera RAW plugin for Photoshop, your crop will be correct and you'll get full resolution.
